Time to pick up clay

Albertus has asked that you don't use the studio to work in... but as we have moved into a slab/handbuilding phase of the class, I am confident that you'll be able to work perfectly well at home, using tools in your kitchen.

Maintenance will put 12 bags of clay out on the stairs leading to the boiler room starting tomorrow, March 18th.  Pick up 1 bag (25 lbs.) The stairs are at the rear of Aquinas Hall to the left of the door faculty enter the building. When the coast is clear, I will invite you to bring back in any work you would like me to fire for you... and then do a second firing if you want to gaze your work... None of us can know when that will be though.

For now, check in here at the blog and post one or more pictures showing your progress.  I will post a week by week assignment... 5 more in all, and in keeping with the amount of clay you have and the space you have to do it.

For anyone who is not near to New Haven, you can order clay directly from Amherst Potter's Supply in western Mass... I talked to Fred (the owner) today and he is fine with shipping out 25 lb. bags of clay to you.  We use cone 6, "Toast" stoneware.  If you want to use a white stoneware or porcelain, that is okay with me as long as it is cone 5-6.  The price of the clay is $11.50 for 25lbs and $5-7 shipping by UPS. If ordering clay from Fred you can email him at Clay@Amherstpotters.com or call 413-586-4507
